Course Delivery Methodology

This course is delivered via elearning on your own time and then a traditional classroom setting for practical exercises and assessments. This element of the course is highly interactive and participation is required from learners. Once the learners have completed the elearning they will attend two days in the classroom.

The elearning course is hosted on our WordPress Learning Management System. This is comprised of self-paced on-demand eLearning Modules

At the end of each module there is a quiz. Time has been allowed for remediation where the learner can redo the module if the quiz has not been successfully completed.

The learning course is then followed by a traditional classroom session which involves practical demonstration and skills assessment.

In the classroom session, the theory is recapped, the learners complete the 20 question MCQ and all skills are demonstrated, practiced and then assessed.

PHECC First Aid Course Assessment & Time Commitment 

You will be required to complete a 20 question MCQ on the final Day.  Allow 4 hours for the revision of your notes in preparation for this.

Preparation for FAR Skill (s) assessment. Your FAR and CFR skills will be assessed on the final day of the course. You will need to revise your FAR and CFR skills in advance of being assessed. Allow 2 hours for this preparation.

First Aid Instructor Course Certification:

Prior to attending the PHECC First Aid Responder Instructor Course, you are required to have the following certification:

Course Access:

To ensure the greatest opportunity for successful participation in our programmes, learners are required to have a good command of English in terms of reading, writing and speaking.

This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+ Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Learners who have achieved a passing grade in English at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Qualtec, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

Learners should have basic IT skills. They will need to be able email, word process (Word) and use Presentation software (Powerpoint).

This can be tested in advance of the course will arranging a practice log in by sending an email to [email protected] or using this online tool https://www.highspeedinternet.com/tools/speed-test. This should be tested prior to the course commencement.

Training, Administrative and Technical Support and Reasonable Accomodation: Qualtec will endeavour to provide any reasonable support to ensure that strudents complete this course successfully. Reasonable Accomodation can be requested in advance of the course by sending an email to [email protected]. This is detailed in full in the Learner Handbook.. The Instructor will be available to discuss any needs or issues on breaks on a one to one basis or collectively. Recognition of Prior Learning

Qualtec may offer Recognition of Prior Learning towards this certification. To apply for this, please complete the RPL Application form and return it by email to [email protected]. Click here for full details on our Recognition Policy and Procedure in our Learner Handbook.

Assessments

A number of FAR skills will be assessed on day 2 of the course. You will need to practice your FAR and CFR skills in advance of being assessed. Allow 2 hours for this preparation.

In order to become certified as a PHECC FAR Instructor you must assist on two First Aid Responder courses before being finally assessed on their delivery of  a 3rd First Aid Response course. You will need to  prepare properly in advance of the delivery of theses sessions a prepare a lesson Plan for allocated topics (template provided).

This must be completed within six months of the course.

CFR Instructor Course Aim:

The aim of this PHECC CFR Instructor Course is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and attitude to train others as Cardiac First Responders

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Explain the role of PHECC
  • Explain the Chain of Survival
  • Demonstrate Adult and Child CPR
  • Demonstrate the correct use of an AED
  • Demonstrate Adult and Child Foreign Body Airway Obstruction
  • Explain Critical Incident Stress Management
  • Explain the steps required in dealing with a stroke and heart attack.
  • Demonstrate the recovery position.

This CFR Instructor Course is delivered in the Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip, Co.Kildare.
